Good Friday Charity Benefit Concert, 2 April 2010

In 2002 Cantabile Chorale inaugurated a series of fundraising concerts to benefit social service agencies in York Region, to be presented on Good Friday in alternate years. Choristers from many local churches are invited to swell our ranks to create an 'ecumenical' choir of around 80 voices. These concerts featuring contemporary sacred works for Holy Week have proven to be very successful. This year was no exception, drawing a capacity audience at Thornhill United Church.

Our 2010 programme saw the return of Joseph Martin's Lenten cantata The Rose of Calvary, last performed in 2006, together with selections from Karl Jenkins' Stabat Mater. We're very pleased to announce that thanks to the generosity of our audience, we are ale to share $2200 between Hill House Hospice, Richmond Hill and Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers in York Region, based in Newmarket.
